We launched RaiseYourFlag.com to help young people discover meaningful career paths that don’t require a college degree
Overview
RaiseYourFlag.com is dedicated to guiding students and young adults who opt out of the traditional college route toward rewarding, non-degree careers. Our goal is to illuminate viable options that align with their talents and interests, while also highlighting employers who recognize and value skilled work without a degree.
Context and Opportunity
Research indicates that a substantial portion of high school graduates—approximately 45% in Canada and the United States—do not pursue higher education after graduation. For many, this decision can be accompanied by feelings of discouragement or inadequacy within traditional success narratives. However, a growing landscape of opportunities exists for non-degree pathways, including roles in trades, technology, healthcare support, entrepreneurship, and other fields where demonstrated skills and hands-on experience are valued.
What RaiseYourFlag.com Aims to Do
– Provide clear guidance on career paths that don’t require a degree, including industry insights, skill requirements, and potential trajectories.
– Spotlight employers and programs that hire based on ability, training, and proven competencies rather than educational credentials.
– Create resources and content that empower young people to explore, plan, and pursue meaningful work aligned with their strengths.
– Build a community and network of supporters who can help translate passion into practical steps for entering the workforce.
A Call for Collaboration
This project is in its early stages, and we’re actively seeking input from educators, mentors, parents, employers, and career professionals who share the vision of widening access to fulfilling work. If you have ideas, resources, or partnerships that could enhance our mission, we’d love to hear from you.
