Title: Can Moderators More Aggressively Remove “I Am Very Rich” Type Posts

In many online communities, the line between genuine contribution and self-promotional content can blur. Recently, there seems to be a surge in posts whose primary aim appears to be ego-stroking or personal bragging rather than providing value or asking meaningful questions. While these posts may fall under rules against self-promotion, they appear with increasing frequency and impact the overall quality of discussions.

For example, posts along the lines of “I made $20 million from my IPO; can I afford a $1 million condo and FIRE?” come across as cringe-worthy to readers, especially when the goal seems to be sharing wealth rather than seeking legitimate guidance. Similarly, inquiries that primarily serve to reveal one’s net worth to earn validation, rather than to solicit helpful input, tend to derail productive conversation.

This raises a question for community moderators: should there be a more proactive or stringent approach to removing posts that primarily serve personal bragging, even when they technically fall within self-promotion guidelines? By tightening enforcement or refining the criteria for removal, communities may preserve a higher-quality discussion space and encourage contributions that benefit a broader audience.
